Our race week will include 2 triathlon race distances, Beat the Tide run race (5 miler around historic Ministers Island at Low Tide), a garden party, a Free Kids run, vendor expo, farmer's market and many more activities around the Town of St.Andrews. The weekend will finish with an awards party for triathlon participants and their families that will be a true maritime party.

The feature event of the TRI - St. Andrews by the Sea festival is the championship long course triathlon and relay. This event features a 1.9 km swim, 90 km bike and 21 km run in and around the historic, coastal, resort community of St. Andrews.
Course description: The swim takes place in Katy's cove, a controlled cove which allows the water of the Bay of Fundy to warm up to a comfortable temperature, making this a unique opportunity for athletes to experience a salt water swim course in a sheltered cove in the World famous Bay of Fundy. The two loop swim course can be seen from multiple viewing points around the cove making it an excellent venue for athletes and spectators. The water is warm and flat; unique for an ocean swim venue. Athletes will then run up the 400 meter climb to the transition area at the historic Algonquin Resort to the swim to bike transition. This climb to transition will be a high tempo highlight of the event and a great spectator viewing area.

The bike course takes place along the coastal roads near St. Andrews to the newly opened highway that links the Province of New Brunswick to the State of Maine. Our controlled bike course will provide exceptional safety for athletes. It will also give cyclists the opportunity to experience some climbing while enjoying the coastal scenery and the chance to put their heads down and hammer on the new highway portion of the course. During the ride back to St. Andrews along the opposite coast of the peninsula, athletes will have the opportunity to take in a look at the historic St. Croix island and across to the State of Maine.

Returning to the Algonquin Resort, runners will begin a two lap run course that will equal any of the most stunning run courses in triathlon. Encompassing the entire community of St. Andrews, runners will run through and on the award winning Algonquin Golf course, including the signature 12th Tee along the coast. Much of this course provides spectacular island views and the course itself is absolutely stunning. Leaving the Golf Course, runners will run through historic St. Andrews with its early 19th century charm, passing many of the shops that line Water street. Continuing through Town, runners will run along the coast with a view of the Fundy Isles and enter a short trail portion along the Salt marshes that look across to Minister's Island which will host our "Beat the Tide" 5 mile run race on Saturday of race weekend. The loop will finish with an uphill stretch to the Algonquin Resort where competitors may even be excited to do the loop a second time. The Finish line will be in front of the Algonquin Resort where athletes will have post race nutrition, medical and massage.
