It will be a great place to try your first triathlon or to get ready for longer outside races. We offer a mildly challenging and very safe circuit that is 95% closed to traffic. Registrations will be capped at 90 to allow for everyone to get through. Duathlon registration will remain open and will not be capped. The will be no race day registration.

Participants registered by Friday 24 May will receive a nice army green race t-shirt that you can wear with pride.
Environmental Considerations:

If the outside air temp is too low (forecasted to stay 10 Deg C or less for the duration of the event), the swim will be canceled the race will become a duathlon only. If the winds are too high for safe biking the race will become a swim-run only. If the weather is not conducive of a safe race the whole event will be canceled. That decision will be taken the night before the event.

Registration and pre-race brief.

Participant registration will be done in the Base Gagetown Fitness Centre from 0615 to 0850 and participants will be required to register before setting up in transition. The north entrance to the gym will be used; it is the one closest to the transition area and it will be clearly marked. There will be two separate pre-race briefs, one at 0730 for local athletes and one at 0900 for athletes traveling the morning of the race. Two lists will be published the day before the race. The pre-race briefs will be held inside the gym.

The base gym has change rooms, showers, and lockers available. There is also ample parking space for athletes and spectators. The Gagetown triathlon is very spectator friendly and friends and family are welcome to attend.

Transition zone will be located 150 meters to the north of the gym on a paved road. It will be open by 0630 hrs and will remain open throughout the event.

Swim course.

The swim will be held in a 25-meter pool. We will conduct rolling and continuous swim starts with the lineup starting at the pool bleachers so participants will be required to stay nearby once the pre-race brief is done. The intention is to keep the pool lanes filled at all times with two swimmers per lane. Swimmers will be required to stay on their side throughout the entire swim to ensure no interference between swimmers. Flip turns or side turns are permitted at each end as long as they do not interfere with others. Competitors may rest at any end of a lane if needed. Swim lanes will be assigned by the pool deck coordinator as they become available. Once called from the lineup, competitors will cross the start timing mat and make their way to their assigned swim lane to start swimming immediately. We will have lane counters to assist you and signal the end of your swim and it will be the responsibility of every athlete to inform the lane counter of the length of their swim (750 or 400 meters). There will be an end of swim timing mat right outside the pool to catch swim time.  Competitors will then make their way to the transition zone approx 150 meters north of the pool exit.

Bike course.

The bike course will consist of 4 km laps from the gym to the north gate and back. Participants will do either 3 or 5 laps depending on the event registered for. It will be the athlete’s responsibility to count their laps. The two turn-around spots will be clearly marked and designated as no passing zones. You can expect two long shallow descents on the way out, a few flat and straight sections in the middle, and some shallow climbs on the way back. The course will be closed to traffic except for one intersection, which will be guarded. A bike course map will be posted shortly.

Run course.

The run course will consist of 2.5 km laps of crushed stone trail with shallow climbs and descents. Participants will do either 1 or 2 laps depending on the event registered for. There will be a water station just outside of transition at the start or the run. A run course map will be posted shortly.

The run will finish with a sharp left-hand turn and a short climb to the finish timing mats. At that point, friends and family will be cheering you on through for one last effort.

Awards will be as follows:

Top three males and females for the sprint triathlon, sprint duathlon, junior 16-19, and juniors 14-15.

Make sure you stick around for the awards presentation after the race!

Train safe, train hard, and see you on race day!
